"M.I.N.D." is a full automatic dispenser where “MIND” and its follow up services will be part of the solution for Medication Non-adherence.

The elderly often have multiple disease states and/or chronic conditions and approximately around 12% of them, ages of 65 & older, take more than 10 medications per week.   Nearly 67% of all elderly patients fail to follow important dosage instructions for their medications.

As a result around 194,500 deaths per year are reported in the EU due to missed doses and non-adherence of prescribed medication, also it is estimated that 125,000 lives could be saved annually with better medication compliance in the USA. IMS institute for healthcare informatics finds that about 8% of total healthcare expenditure or about 500Bn USD per year globally can be avoided with optimized use of medicines.

On the other hand in the USA 30% of hospital admissions over age 65 are directly related to non-adherence of medication regimens.

Studies have shown as much as a 79% reduction in hospitalization rate per patient when using a technology-enabled dispensing service over simple medication boxes.  “MIND”’s mission is to give patients the opportunity to have a better, longer and healthier lives by using it. It will let patients take their medications in the right way,  at the right time, with the right dose, and at any place .Our target market is patients aged 65 and above in the EU and the USA.

“MIND” faces competition in the medication compliance market from reminder devices, automated medication dispensers and compliance services. The closest competitor to be considered is a similar product in the automated medication dispenser and compliance service market. Its weaknesses are size, method of filling, and its lack of having a portable device to be used outside home.

“M.I.N.D.” is in the last step of the proof of concept development stage, and it is expected that the working prototype will be launch at the beginning of October 2016.

MIND dispenser can:

· Dispense the dose automatically .

· Give Alert when time occurs.

· Send SMS to Relatives when doses missed.

In addition to that there is a mobile application to keep patients' relatives updated about their relative’s adherence status.

MIND improves the capacity, reliability, and portability compared to other similar devices.

· Capacity &Size : taking as much as 23 different medications without affecting the size

· Reliability: using “By- Medicine” method to fill (Fill every cartridge with one type of medications) and has a sufficient way to hold missed doses.

· Portability: adding a small portable dispenser to be carried by the patient outside or inside home.

By using “MIND” & its services we will;

· Help the elderly to become more independent.

· Reduce the hospital admissions.

· Reduce the burden of medication non-adherence on economies.

· Help care givers & pharmacies serving their customers in the most reliable & easy way.
